CAMS Offices (Sports House) Cnr. Caxton & Castlemaine Streets, Milton Q 4064. Meeting Start - 7.45pm approx. Pre Meeting Drinkies and Feed up at the Paddo Tavern as usual.
Lee Castle is looking for a strong run at Morgan Park Raceway next weekend to get his title charge back on track in the Australian Manufacturers Championship aboard the Wilson Brothers Racing Subaru WRX Sti.
The meeting will represent the first time that the team has ever raced their WRX Sti on home soil in full championship conditions, and they plan on taking full advantage of their knowledge gained from years of competing at the facility.
Castle thinks the tight and demanding circuit just outside of the Darling Downs town of Warwick should suit the 4WD configuration of his machine.
“We should have a definite advantage around Morgan Park because of the number of laps we have done around there, and it’s the first track that we have visited this year that we have raced at previously,” said Castle.
“Being a tight track, the competition should be a lot closer than the previous round at Eastern Creek, and we need to have a strong weekend to claw back points in the championship after a did-not-start in a race last time out.
“I’m sure the crew has ironed out the gremlins in the car, and I think with a bit of home track support from the crowd, we are looking forward to an excellent round.
The Wilson Brothers Racing crew will be one of the busiest crews in the pit lane, with the additional responsibility of campaigning a pair of Holden Geminis in the support races.
Team principal Cameron Wilson is excited to be finally running the Subaru on Queensland soil.
“The WBR crew knows Morgan Park Raceway back to front, and I’m very confident Lee will have a top weekend,” said Wilson.
“After Morgan Park the championship goes to Oran Park and Sandown, both tracks Lee ran well at last year, so a good weekend will set up a charge at the title.
“The team has been working hard on the car since Eastern Creek, continuing to develop the package so we can race hard with the Evos.
“Obviously we are excited to have the Geminis on board for the weekend, and we will be running Tracey Whale who is currently second in the championship, as well as another driver TBA.”
The Australian Manufacturers Championship will take in three races over the weekend.
Lee Castle and Wilson Brothers Racing would like to thank Gold Coast Indoor Hire Karts, Castrol, Mercury Motorsport, Ecutek, MRT Performance, Ingear Industries, Racer Industries, Harris Visual 3D and Deluxe Screen Printing for their continued support.
