The Ipswich Kart Track is definitely not going to be a place for the faint-hearted this Saturday (August 15), with the running of the ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ race for Endurance Karting.

Comprising both the third round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australian Endurance Kart Championship and the seventh round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia Queensland Endurance Kart Championship, the ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ is going to play a crucial part in both respective championships and provide plenty of action-packed racing throughout the whole event.

With between four to six drivers per team, the ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ is the first of its kind this year in ProKart Australia competition and there is certainly a strong list of teams primed to tackle this gruelling event.

Heading the charge into the ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ this Saturday is going to be renowned ’24 Hour’ race specialists - Team Kaos. The current National and NSW Champions haven’t had the most enjoyable of runs so far this year but when it comes to ‘24 Hour’ races they seem to shine through.

Apart from Team Kaos you cannot discount the likes of Adrenalin Rush Karting, Team 5051R and the Wollongong City Raceway Jets. All three teams will be fielding two teams each and they are all looking to be right up there amongst the front runners.

Other ‘24 Hour’ race contenders such as PDS Grand Prix Racing, Resi Sales Racing, Horsepower Racing and Climatrol Racing have the capabilities to be amongst the leading pack and shouldn’t be discounted.

A field of close to 20 teams will line up to contest this Saturday’s ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ and all of them will be put to the ultimate test. The ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ is going to be an event ‘that sorts the men from the boys’.

In order to contend for a ’24 Hour’ race victory there are ranges of elements that need to fall into place. Apart from good race speed, team management, consistency both out on the track and in the pits, have a mechanically sound kart and of course plenty of ‘lady luck’.

The Ipswich Kart Track is a total of 1.080km in length and is certainly one of the favoured Endurance Karting tracks. Having been recently refurbished over recent months, the Ipswich Kart Track could spring a few surprises to teams as they try to optimise grip on the entirely new surface.

The ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’ is scheduled to start at 9.30am on Saturday morning and finish up at 9.30am on Sunday morning. There will be a Friday (August 14) afternoon practice session for all teams contesting the ‘Ipswich 24 Hour’.

The Ipswich Kart Track is located at Champions Way, Willowbank, near Ipswich.
